Looking for a new Sofa?

Not sure if your lounge suite has a few more years in it or if it’s time to invest in a new one? We’re breaking down everything you should look for.

Often, it’ll be fairly obvious when your sofa has reached its limit, but there are a few telltale signs to look for.

The first is that it looks, in experts words, “tired-looking.” What does this mean? The fabric could be torn or dirty, and the cushions may be flat or misshapen.

You might hear a screeching noise from your springs or coils when you sit down. Or, the bottom could be drooping. Besides these obvious signs, it might be time for a new sofa if it simply isn’t comfortable anymore or doesn’t fit your current or future space.

Your old lounge suite may not be the right size, or it might be out of style with the rest of your furniture. If it’s a traditional roll-arm couch and you want a more contemporary setting, it may be time to invest in a new lounge suite.

So whats the life span of a Lounge Suite?

The aged old question. It's really all about the original price you paid. If you went for a low quality style, you will be looking anywhere from a year to 3 years. You'll have thins like cardboard in the arms instead of hardwood and over time the frame will start to sag.

On the other side of the ledger, if you spent a little more and went for a quality lounge suite, with solid hardwood framing you will get between 7 to 15 years or even more.

The final factor is all about the maintenance!!! If you have kept it clean, rotated cushions and kept away from UV light.

In the long run, the more you pay for the quality of the lounge suite will determine the life span and comfort. Quality counts for long term value for money.

Investment

Don't tell the boss, but some new cushions can do wonders for your lounge suite. But remember, investing in a new lounge suite can change the look and feel of your space, and reintroduce you to sitting back and enjoying great conversation or that TV show you love.
